News: Construction of Fischer Sports in Ukraine temporarily halted
PEM supports families from Ukraine
PEM is closely connected with Ukraine. Employees from Austria have often been working together with colleagues from the office in Kyiv for years. The current situation affects many deeply. „Unfortunately, the possibilities to help are limited. We are supporting our colleagues from Kyiv as best we can and are providing several families with safe accommodation in the company apartments here in Mauthausen and in Landshut,“ expresses Thomas Ennsberger his concern. Together with the Zeman Group, a total of 35 people from Ukraine have already been accommodated and cared for in Poland, Germany, and Austria. Additionally, PEM has made a considerable donation to Neighbors in Need. So far, PEM has helped quietly and discreetly. Now, PEM and the Zeman Group have decided to go public with this in order to motivate other companies to do the same. We are happy to share our experiences. Besides the personal concern, the current events also have a major impact on ongoing projects.
After a major fire in a production hall in Mukachevo, Fischer Sports commissioned PEM Buildings to renovate and expand the hall. In total, the project covers an area of 21,500 m2. The completion of the new production hall already took place in August 2021 and it was equipped, among other things, with a membrane roof, panel walls, smoke curtains, and sprinkler systems. The renovation of the burned production hall carried out by PEM is largely completed. However, construction work was immediately stopped due to the current events. Among the employees on site was also an assembly manager from Austria. He coordinated the construction together with the Ukrainian colleagues for as long as he could. However, due to the escalating situation, he too was forced to temporarily return to Austria. The entire PEM team hopes to successfully complete the Fischer project in Ukraine as soon as the situation allows.
