Customer profile: PEM Buildings, a partner with handshake quality
Synchrotech sees itself as a strategic partner for machine and plant manufacturers, specializes in the field of timing belt drives, and celebrated its 19th anniversary in Austria last year. In order to optimize service for its customers as well as working conditions for its employees, Günter Winkler, Managing Director of Synchrotech, decided on a new company building: „For me, there were only two options: either to remain a tenant at our old location in Enns or to build a new facility in Haag.“ For the construction of his new company building, Winkler deliberately sought a partner at eye level. Based on recommendations from his network, he relied on the 40 years of experience of the Mauthausen steel hall specialist PEM Buildings, which took over the planning and construction of Synchrotech's new company building in 2018: „It was important to me that a local company was awarded the contract. Supporting regional companies in particular contributes significantly to a stable economic situation. The environmental aspect must not be neglected either: short transport routes simply put much less strain on nature.“ The new hall, which was managed and planned by Baumeister Ing. Erwin Hauser GmbH, covered 1,300 m² and included a warehouse with a canopy. Construction work on the project began in July 2018.
Synchrotech's requirements for the new company building
„The planning of the hall was very well thought out and yet simple. One of our most important requirements was the integration of a canopy including a clean loading and unloading station. In addition, we wanted to have a lot of glass integrated into the hall so that my employees can use the daylight and so that you also have the feeling of being outside while inside the hall“, explains Winkler. The construction of the steel structure was planned and carried out using the PEM system, foil roof, and panel walls.
PEM Buildings also a competent partner in case of difficulties
Winkler places the highest quality demands on his own company. He also looked for this quality in his partner for the new building. During assembly, damage occurred to the sheets and window frames due to young and partly inexperienced fitters in the team.. „At first, I was annoyed by the visible defects. A short phone call to Mag. Thomas Ennsberger, the managing director of PEM Buildings, was enough for him to come and see the situation for himself on site,“, said Winkler. After inspecting and discussing the defects, Ennsberger and Winkler jointly developed an action plan for damage repair. „For me, it was immediately clear that PEM Buildings would handle the replacement free of charge. As a quality-oriented partner, that's simply part of what we do,“, Ennsberger is pleased to have achieved a convincing result for the builder.
Handshake quality that counts
Winkler was satisfied with how the Mauthausen steel hall builder handled challenges: „Whether you can rely on a company's handshake quality becomes apparent in situations like ours. Without assigning blame, PEM took responsibility. That builds trust for future projects. If we build again, it will be with PEM.“ Since December 2018, Synchrotech has offered its employees more storage and assembly space as well as bright and friendly offices thanks to the new building.
