From Steel Designer to Head of Design – Career Opportunities within the PEM Team
A newspaper advertisement drew Jochen Wegscheider’s attention to PEM Buildings. For over 23 years, the father of two has been part of the team, continuously developing himself and taking advantage of the opportunities the company has offered him.
After finishing school, Jochen Wegscheider’s career began as a steel construction designer at PEM Buildings. „It was my very first job interview and it worked out right away,“ Jochen Wegscheider recalls. „Ten years ago, I was offered the position of project manager and since June 2023 I have taken over the management of the design department,“ says the graduate of the technical school for mechanical engineering in Waidhofen an der Ybbs.
Always on the lookout for new solutions
Jochen Wegscheider accompanies numerous hall construction projects and has thus been able to turn his passion into a profession. „Even as a child, I was fascinated by creating and building things. Now I do it on a large scale“, describes the amateur football coach. The varied daily work brings many interesting projects that constantly present new challenges and require new solutions. An important part of Jochen Wegscheider's work are the people he meets during his activities: „I appreciate dealing with customers on the construction site and working with colleagues in the office. Working in a team is fun and over the years, very good friendships have developed.“ Especially with large projects, you need a well-coordinated team, like PEM has.
Appreciation and trust as a foundation
When Jochen Wegscheider became part of PEM over 23 years ago, it was not foreseeable that the collaboration would last so long. With flexibility and opportunities for professional change, PEM has proven itself as a reliable employer. „Because of my long commute, I was offered the opportunity to work from home long before home office became a topic. I still appreciate this very much today, as it is based on trust“, says the family man. For him, it is clear: „The appreciative treatment of employees and the good working atmosphere are what distinguish PEM.“
