Project presentation: Fischer Ski – Demolition and Reconstruction

PEM rebuilds production hall of ski manufacturer.

Fischer Sports is the world market leader in Nordic skiing and one of the largest ski manufacturers in the world. The Austrian company offers everything needed for alpine and Nordic skiing and for playing hockey – shoes, skis, poles, helmets, and clothing. With its extensive range, the family business plays a major role in the development, production, marketing, and distribution of high-quality ski sports products. 

After a fire that destroyed a production hall in Ukraine (Mukachevo), Fischer Ski commissioned PEM to renovate it and expand it with a new building. In total, the project covers an area of 21,500 m². The hall will be equipped with a membrane roof and panel walls. The biggest challenges were Ukrainian building regulations and logistics, explains project manager Jochen Wegscheider: „Especially in times of a global pandemic, we have to work very flexibly and continuously adapt to the new situation. For example, it is necessary to work with a large number of freight forwarders in order to carry out the project. Currently, well over 100 trucks are bringing the material to Ukraine, which is a logistical masterpiece.“ Until the planned completion in autumn 2021, the construction in Mukachevo will be supervised and coordinated by a site manager from PEM Austria.
