Visitor walkway for the highest dam wall in Styria

As part of a two-year modernization of the Hirzmann dam, completed in 1950, a publicly accessible steel walkway was constructed and installed along the dam wall after the construction work was completed. 

The individual elements of the steel structure commissioned by Verbund were installed in March of this year with the help of highly specialized industrial climbers and a helicopter directly below the dam crest. With the completion of the structure and all safety facilities, the new walkway has been open to visitors since June 3. Thanks to the visitor walkway, the entire reservoir can now be circumnavigated. And from the walkway, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the valley.
