How to achieve air conditioning

With the current record temperatures, many entrepreneurs are faced with the challenge of creating a pleasant climate for their employees in their production and storage halls. PEM employee Peter Herbst provides you here with valuable tips and tricks for optimizing the hall temperature:

Tip No. 1: Cooling through ventilation
Basically, the rule is: If the thermal enclosure is correct, you can only fall back on already known procedures, namely keeping the gates closed and ventilating well early and in the evening.

Tip No. 2: The right type of hall
The most important thing is to have the right type of hall for your applications. If you build a new hall, it is perfectly tailored to your requirements. However, if you buy, for example, an already existing production hall that you want to use as a warehouse, it is not made of the ideal material. Therefore, when buying an existing hall, it is also important to check the thermal condition. If this is not suitable, thermal renovation is recommended.

Tip No. 3: Good insulation
For good insulation, it is important to use the right panels with the appropriate wall thickness. This achieves a low U-value – that is, the value that indicates how good the thermal insulation properties are. The lower the U-value, the better the thermal insulation. Ideally, a U-value of 0.2. The building physics requirements for high-roof panels to avoid summer heating must also be observed. In addition, at PEM Buildings, we always pay attention to suitable roof ventilation in new buildings, ensuring the air extraction area is correct. Good supply and exhaust ventilation is essential for a pleasant climate in the hall.

Tip No. 4: Air conditioning starts with color selection
When building the hall, it is definitely important to pay attention to color selection. We do not recommend colors that are too dark to avoid unnecessary heating. Shading systems such as venetian blinds or sun sails are always a good idea as well.

Tip No. 5: Regular inspections of the wall light strips
Wall light strips should be regularly maintained or renewed. We also recommend regular inspection of the sealing function of the gaskets. Regular checks can prevent hot air from entering. The experts at PEM Buildings are happy to consult with you on this matter.
